Internet: E-mailing images
If you want to e-mail your images, the same guidelines about displaying images apply. When e-mailing images, you are simply displaying them on a screen in a different piece of software. This means they still need to be converted to the sRGB colour space and resized to fit comfortably on the screen.
When saving the images, you need to be aware of the final file size. Some e-mail providers limit the size of file you can send and receive, so if you are not sure of the capacity of the recipient’s e-mail, it is better to be cautious and make the images slightly smaller.
When saving the images for e-mailing, you can use the ‘Save For Web’ option in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.
However, if you have installed Canon’s ZoomBrowser (ImageBrowser on the Mac) software you can click the Internet tab and use that to resize your images.
Click ‘Email Images’. Resize the images by selecting either longest or shortest edge and inputting the number of pixels you want the final image to be. We suggest no more than 800 pixels on the longest side.
If you are using an e-mail application such as Outlook Express, you can attach the images directly to the e-mail by highlighting Create New Email and clicking ‘Finish’
If you are not using an e-mail application recognised by ZoomBrowser (or ImageBrowser), you can highlight ‘Save Image in a Folder…’ select the folder to save them in and click finish. You can then attach the images to your e-mail by using your preferred e-mail software.
