Printers: Printing from memory cards

Printers that accept CompactFlash or SecureDigital media cards allow you to print direct from the card, without the need for a computer. They include an LCD screen, which allows you to view the images and also to select the printing options.

These options include the number of images you want to print on a single sheet (usually between one and eight), and whether you want to include white borders or have borderless prints. It is possible to have different sizes of print on the same sheet, and to repeat images, or select different images. A useful feature is being able to print a set of ‘thumbnail’ images, complete with basic technical and exposure data alongside.
