Canon has announced plans to showcase its strongest-ever product portfolio at IBC 2011, the leading global trade show for media and broadcast professionals, which will be held at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 9 to 13 September 2011.
At IBC 2011 Canon’s stand will be bigger than those seen at previous IBC shows, displaying a comprehensive product line-up that encompasses a wide range of professional imaging solutions – from handheld HD camcorders to powerful broadcast and cinema lenses.
Visitors will be able to experience a range of Canon products that meet the modern and evolving needs of broadcast professionals. Canon’s XF-series and XA10 camcorders will be on display alongside EOS HD DSLR cameras and a variety of EF lens solutions. Canon’s XF305, XF300, XF105 and XF100 models employ an MPEG-2, 4:2:2 50Mbps codec for native 1920x1080 HD video recording onto affordable and widely available Compact Flash (CF) cards.
Firmware updates for the XF305 and XF300 were announced earlier in 2011, adding new features in response to end user feedback. Following the update, these models will include Canon’s 3D Assist Functions: OIS Axis Shift and a Focal Length Guide allow easy manual adjustment and alignment of cameras when shooting, whilst an enhanced Scan Reverse function provides more shooting options. Double Slot recording has also been added, allowing simultaneous recording to both card slots – this is ideal for production environments where multiple copies of each take might be required.
Canon’s latest broadcast lens technology will also be on show, including the recently announced PL mount FK-series cine lenses, the portable KJ20x8.2B with built in 2x extender for low cost acquisition, and two remote controlled pan and tilt cameras – the BU-4H and BU-51H. Innovative 3D solutions for both broadcast lenses and XF camcorders will also be on show.
Kieran Magee, Professional Imaging Marketing Director, Canon Europe, commented: “IBC 2011 gives Canon the ideal opportunity to showcase our strongest-ever professional portfolio. Thanks to our blend of lens and camera technologies we can offer a truly unique line-up, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating how our class-leading products and solutions can suit the requirements of professionals across the industry.”
Visitors to the Canon stand will have the opportunity to see all of the aforementioned products and upgrades in action – the Canon stand at IBC 2011 will be in Hall 11, stand number 11.E50.
