Canon is sponsoring the new exhibition - 'We Speak Image - A comment on the world by Canon Ambassadors' - which features a collection of favourite and recent work from the 12 Canon Ambassadors and will be on show at the Getty Images Gallery in central London from 14 February until 12 March 2011.
The exhibition 'We Speak Image - A comment on the world by Canon Ambassadors' will give visitors the opportunity to see some of the most recent and favourite photographs taken by the Canon Ambassadors and learn about the stories behind these images, including the equipment which enabled them to capture their work. All 50 of the images featuring in the exhibition were shot on professional Canon EOS DSLR cameras and EF lenses.
The spectrum of the work on display is funny, moving, elegant, graceful and full of action - it has been assembled to engage and inspire visitors with an interest in photography and the world we live in. It features the work of sport, fashion, nature, portrait, wedding, society, and reportage photographers. The current Canon Ambassadors are Lorenzo Agius (Getty Images), Jeff Ascough, Frits van Eldik, Gary Knight (VII), Ziv Koren (Polaris Images), Thorsten Milse, Michael Nichols (National Geographic), Brutus Östling, Paolo Pellegrin (Magnum Photos), Jonathan & Angela Scott, Brent Stirton (Reportage by Getty Images), and Vanessa von Zitzewitz.
Kieran Magee, Professional Imaging Marketing Director, Consumer Imaging Group, Canon Europe commented: "As a global leader in imaging 'We Speak Image' has long been a philosophy embedded in everything that Canon does. With this exhibition we wanted to bring that statement to life, sharing our ethos with visitors as they view the pictures. The collection of images from our partners in the Ambassador programme truly demonstrates what inspirational commentary can be achieved through photography. I very much hope that visitors to the exhibition enjoy seeing this fine collection of work."
Louise Garczewska, Director of the Getty Images Gallery, told CPN: "This exhibition is very diverse - you've got wildlife images of tigers and elephants, beautiful imagery of horses underwater, the work of Lorenzo Agius, which is very much a twist on the dramatic and the female form, and there are incredible motor racing shots, which is appropriate given the new Formula 1 season is almost upon us. It's a great collection of photography from some world famous names." Garczewska added: "We are doing some work with people like Thurston Hopkins that is inspirational, and one of the things that's wonderful about Canon and the Ambassadors programme is that it's really pushing and promoting the next great generation of photographers."
The Canon Ambassador programme was established in 2008 with the intention of showcasing the wide and varied work of some of the world's most celebrated photographers and the innovative work that can be produced on Canon DSLR cameras and lenses.
The Canon Ambassadors exhibition runs at the Getty Images Gallery from 14 February until 12 March 2011. The Getty Images Gallery's opening hours are 10am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 12pm to 5.30pm on Saturdays - admission is free. The Getty Images Gallery is at 46 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8DX.
