Canon Ambassadors Programme adds new faces

Canon Europe has grown its Ambassadors Programme photography initiative with the addition of new Ambassadors – wildlife photographer Brutus Östling, commercial and reportage photographer Vanessa von Zitzewitz, and the expert wildlife photography husband and wife 'team' of Jonathan and Angela Scott.

The new Canon Ambassadors have joined the existing nine Ambassadors - photojournalist Gary Knight (VII Photo Agency); wildlife photographer Michael Nichols (National Geographic); portrait and fashion shooter Lorenzo Agius (Orchard by Getty Images); photojournalist Ziv Koren (Polaris Images); wedding photographer Jeff Ascough; motorsport specialist Frits van Eldik; wildlife shooter Thorsten Milse; and the photojournalists Paolo Pellegrin (Magnum Photos) and Brent Stirton (Reportage by Getty Images) - in the programme that launched in June 2008.

The Canon Ambassadors Programme sees some of the world’s top photographers sharing their passion for the power of photography with a love for shooting with Canon equipment. The Ambassadors participating in the Programme come from a wide range of photographic disciplines and from all around the world. They lend their expertise to a variety of workshops, events, seminars and major photography shows to create unique opportunities for photographers at all levels.

New Canon Ambassador Brutus Östling explained: “There is a saying, ‘you can't keep what you have received/gotten, if you don't give it away (to other people)’. I think it's a very good idea to let photographers share their skills and ways of working with other photographers, both amateurs and professionals.”

Commenting on the Canon Ambassadors Programme Jonathan and Angela Scott told CPN: “We think it is a brilliant initiative. Professionals have the opportunity to photograph as a way of life – they often visit remote areas or spend long periods following their subjects, be they wildlife or people, and by creating Ambassadors, Canon is helping professionals to share their work with an even wider audience. The programme benefits the photographers and the public – it lets people see what can be achieved with the latest equipment, and allows the public access to professionals at special events.”

You can find out more about the Ambassadors Programme and the photographers in the programme in the special Ambassadors section of the CPN website.
