Canon will have a major presence at the IFA consumer electronics show at the Messe Berlin, Germany, from 2 to 7 September 2011 including daily presentations by Canon Ambassador, and top wildlife photographer, Thorsten Milse about his new book ‘Polar World’.
The six-day event will see Canon showcasing a range of its products including DSLRs, EF lenses, EOS accessories, compact cameras, PIXMA desktop printers, large format printers (LFPs), and digital camcorders in its special tent in the ‘Sommergarten’ (summer garden) area of the IFA show.
There will also be a daily programme of six Canon presentations in the Canon tent at IFA, starting at 11am and running on the hour, every hour, until the final presentation starts at 4pm. The programme will include presentations by Thorsten Milse, EOS system and portrait photography presentations by photographer Jörg Kyas, Richard Walch on shooting HD video with Canon’s professional camcorders and DSLRs, Wilfred Olfs explaining the Canon HS System that’s deployed in its compact cameras, and Marcus Klimek on making films with Canon’s LEGRIA camcorders.
Thorsten Milse’s photography from his long-term project shooting in the polar regions of the world will be showcased both in the Canon tent and in a special outdoor exhibition space in the IFA ‘Sommergarten’. Milse explained to CPN: "Inside and outside there will be big prints. Outside there’s some special fine art prints from my ‘Polar World’ book – penguins, polar bears and icebergs – they’re in special frames under special museum glass.”
Milse added: “Every day I have a presentation about my forthcoming book ‘Polar World’. I will talk about what I did with the Canon equipment in the cold climate of the high Arctic and Antarctica, how it works, a little bit about my work, and tell the stories behind the making of some pictures. The first pictures [for the book] were from 2004, so it’s been over six years of work and over 200,000 images in total.”
The IFA show takes place at the Messe Berlin from 2 to 7 September 2011, with doors open every day from 10am until 6pm. To find out more about Canon’s programme of activities at the Berlin IFA 2011 show just click here.
