Canon to showcase
Full HD and 4K products at IBC 2012
Canon has announced it will have its largest-ever presence at IBC – the leading global show for media and broadcast professionals which will be held at the RAI exhibition centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from 7 to 11 September 2012 – with displays of its wide range of Full HD and 4K products.
At IBC 2012 Canon will exhibit at its biggest-ever stand, providing visitors with an excellent opportunity to learn about its range of studio and field-based solutions. The larger environment will give visitors an exclusive chance to experience Canon’s full professional range, including the complete Cinema EOS System line-up, plus an industry-leading selection of broadcast and cinema lenses and 4K displays.
Kieran Magee, Professional Imaging Marketing Director, Canon Europe, commented: “Since last year’s show we’ve made some exceptional additions to our professional video and broadcast line-up, and IBC provides the perfect platform to share these solutions with professionals from across the industry. With the new Cinema EOS System, our market-leading lens technology and our professional X-series camcorders we’re offering greater choice and creative flexibility than ever before, and we’re looking forward to demonstrating these products to visitors during the show.”
Cinema EOS range
IBC 2012 will see the European debut for Canon’s complete Cinema EOS System – the first time the entire range has been demonstrated on the continent. Launched in Hollywood, USA, in late 2011, the Cinema EOS System utilises expertise from Canon’s video, lens, broadcast and DSLR divisions to offer expanded creative flexibility and easy workflow for videographers and cinematographers alike. The acclaimed EOS C300 camera will be on display, as will two new 4K models – the EOS C500 and EOS-1D C DSLR – which will be demonstrated alongside Canon’s expanding 4K-resolution EF Cinema Lens range, which includes both Cine Primes and new Compact Zoom Lenses.
Visitors to IBC 2012 will get the chance to ‘touch and try’ the latest Cinema EOS cameras, including the EOS C500 Digital Cinema Camera.
4K screenings and output
A one-off Canon 4K screening, to showcase the capabilities of the EOS C500 and EOS-1D C Cinema EOS cameras, will be held at 11am on Saturday 8 September as part of the IBC ‘Big Screen Experience’. Two short movies that have been specially created for the launch of these products – ‘Man and Beast’, shot with EOS C500, and ‘The Ticket’, shot using the EOS-1D C – will be screened in full 4K resolution.
Visitors to IBC will also have the chance to see 4K output on the Canon stand, thanks to a technology demonstration of Canon 4K displays. These high-resolution panels were previously showcased at the NAB 2012 show in the US earlier this year.
Broadcast lenses
A large section of Canon’s stand will be dedicated to showcasing the latest selection of high-quality Canon broadcast lenses, which uniquely benefit from over 50 years’ expertise in the development of TV optics. Visitors to the stand will be able to try a number of different studio and field-based options, including the HJ17ex6.2B, DIGISUPER 80 and 76 Box Lenses and the pan-tilt XU-80 camera.
X-series camcorders and Full HD DSLRs
The possibilities offered by Canon’s professional compact handheld X-series camcorders will also be demonstrated, as will a groundbreaking range of DSLRs that shoot Full HD movies, including the EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III. Visitors will also be able to ‘touch and try’ the XF305 camcorder and the EOS 5D Mark III DSLR in the Production Village area in Hall 11 of the IBC exhibition.
The Canon stand at the IBC 2012 exhibition will be in Hall 11, stand 11.D55. The IBC exhibition is open from 10.30am to 6pm on Friday 7 September; from 9.30am to 6pm on Saturday 8, Sunday 9 and Monday 10 September; and from 9.30am to 4pm on Tuesday 11 September.
