As the main sponsor of the Visa pour l’Image international festival of photojournalism Canon has revealed its programme for the upcoming event. It includes two exhibitions that will showcase the work of the recently appointed Canon Ambassadors including Gary Knight, Ziv Koren, Michael Nichols and Lorenzo Agius.
The event is being held in Perpignan, France from 30 August until 14 September and the main Canon Pro Imaging displays will be in the Palais des Congres in the town from 1-6 September. These include a ‘Demo Zone’ featuring the Canon Professional Services (CPS) area - where professionals can have their equipment cleaned and repaired and where EOS bodies, lenses and accessories can be lent. In the Demo Zone there will also be an EOS counter displaying the latest Canon products and technologies such as the EOS DSLR range, Canon’s EF range of lenses, and the range of EOS compatible accessories.
There will also be a ‘Studio Zone’ including a printing area where visitors can discover the capabilities of Canon’s PIXMA Pro printers and the ImagePROGRAF large format printers, plus a working professional photo studio where the EOS system will be shown in action with direct output to the PIXMA Pro and ImagePROGRAF printers.
Canon’s range of professional camcorders will also be at Visa pour l’Image with a video counter displaying the abilities of the XH A1, XH G1, XL H1S, XL H1A, and the HF10 camcorders.
There will also be a special display showcasing the combined video and stills work of award-winning photojournalist Ziv Koren who shoots simultaneously with wideangle lenses using the EOS-1D Mark III SLR and the HF10 camcorder. In addition to this there will be a Mac display showing the editing workflow of Ziv Koren’s work as undertaken by film editor Solo Avital.
Photojournalist Brenda Kenneally (USA), winner of the Canon Female Photojournalist Award for 2008 for her report project ‘Upstate Girls: what became of Collar City’ will receive a Canon grant of €8,000 during the projection ceremony on 6 September. The 2007 winner of this award, Axelle de Russé, will have her work on the return of the concubines in China exhibited in the Couvent des Minimes, Perpignan.
