Canon to showcase workflow at Visa pour l’Image

Just under a year after signing a new five-year contract to continue as the principal sponsor of the Visa pour l’Image international festival of photojournalism Canon has revealed its plans to showcase the full workflow process at the 2009 festival.

Visa pour l’Image 2009 is to be held in Perpignan, France from 29 August until 13 September and the ‘Canon Pro Imaging: from input to output’ space will be open on the ground floor of the Palais des Congrès in the centre of the town from Monday 31 August until Saturday 5 September. The space will be open each day from 10am to 7pm except on 5 September, when it will close at around 5pm.

The overall Canon display area will include a ‘Photo space’ that showcases the latest Canon digital SLRs and Canon’s range of EOS compatible lenses and accessories, including the Speedlite flashguns and WiFi units. There will also be a dedicated Canon Professional Services (CPS) area where photographers can have their photographic equipment checked and cleaned and, depending on availability, there will be equipment loans available of EOS bodies, Canon lenses and accessories.

A special printing area in the Canon space will allow visitors to discover and see the capabilities of Canon’s PIXMA Pro printers and the ImagePROGRAF large format printers. There will also be a working professional photographic studio using the EOS system - the images shot in the studio will be output directly to the PIXMA Pro and imagePROGRAF printers and then displayed in the Canon space.

The work of many of the Canon Ambassadors – including Lorenzo Agius, Gary Knight, Ziv Koren and Michael Nichols – will be exhibited on large prints in the Canon space.

As well as all of this there will be a special Canon professional video area at Visa pour l’Image displaying the range of Canon HDV professional camcorders, including the XL H1S, XL H1A, XH G1S and XH A1S.

Canon’s space at Visa pour l’Image 2009 will be in the Palais des Congrès in downtown Perpignan.

Polish photojournalist Justyna Mielnikiewicz - winner of the Canon AFJ Female Photojournalist Award for 2009 for her project ‘Shared Sorrow, Divided lines’ about the conflicts of the Caucasus region of former Soviet republics - will receive a Canon grant of €8,000 during an awards ceremony on 5 September. The 2008 winner of the Canon AFJ award, Brenda Ann Keneally, will have her ongoing work ‘Upstate Girls - What Became of Collar City’ exhibited at Visa pour l’Image 2009.

The Visa pour l’Image 2009 event is the 21st year of the festival and the 20th year that Canon has been a key sponsor. To find out the latest news and information about Visa pour l’Image 2009 at the event’s website.
