The Canon Professional Network team will be reporting regularly from this year’s Visa pour l’Image international festival of photojournalism direct from Perpignan, France, throughout the Professional Week of the show (30 August to 5 September 2010) with a mixture of videos, interviews, articles and photographs.

The 22nd Visa pour l’Image festival runs from 28 August to 12 September 2010 and features 30 exhibitions and regular screenings by some of the world’s greatest news and documentary photographers. This year CPN’s coverage will focus on the main exhibitions with interviews with some of the exhibitors about their work. CPN will also report on Canon’s activities in Perpignan including the latest products being shown, the CPS operation, and the special presentations being delivered at Visa pour l'Image by Canon Ambassadors Ziv Koren, Michael Nichols, Paolo Pellegrin and Brent Stirton as well as technical seminars by industry experts (including Canon's Thierry Prestat explaining fine art printing with Canon PIXMA Pro printers).

There will also be interviews with some of the world’s most talented young photojournalists about their work, a special ‘Nouvelles’ (News in French) section, and coverage of the major prizes given out at Visa pour l’Image 2010, including the Canon AFJ Award for female photojournalists and the Pierre & Alexandra Boulat Association Award.

Among the 2010 exhibitions is a major exhibition of the career of photographer William Albert Allard entitled ‘Five Decades: A Retrospective’, which includes his stunning colour photographs depicting the lives of people around the world.

The work of Canon Ambassador Michael Nichols will be showcased in the exhibition ‘Redwoods: California’s Timber Wars’ that showcases his National Geographic assignment documenting the problems caused by mass deforestation in Northern California. There are also exhibitions of work by Corentin Fohlen (winner of the City of Perpignan Young Reporter’s Award 2010), last year’s Canon AFJ award winner Justyna Mielnikiewicz, Gali Tibbon – and many more.
