A black and white picture taken by Jean Marc Volta from France has been chosen by Getty Images' Daniel Glückmann as his favourite image from the thousands uploaded to the ‘Darkness' category of Editor's Choice 3 in August. The Public's Choice, made from Glückmann's 30-image shortlist, was an image by Oradea David Cantillo from Spain.
In a special multimedia presentation Daniel Glückmann, Iberia Country Manager for Getty Images, talks in detail about the entries, including his five favourite images. It also showcases all of his 30-image shortlist. Commenting on his favourite image, Daniel Glückmann said: "It shows a powerful but complex message. Telling stories for a good image is key. [To] put the main element in one of the corners is a good way to understand composition. We are used to seeing a lot of photographers thinking that the centre is the main thing, but here we have a balance between the strength of the girl on the right side and on the other hand the white clouds in the middle of the dark on the left."

Keep visiting the CPN website regularly for all of the Editor's Choice 3 updates — news of latest category announcements, Guest Editors, Briefs and Professional Advice. You have until 30 September to enter your pictures to the ‘Movement' category, which is being judged by the current Guest Editor Ruth Eichhorn, director of photography at GEO magazines.
Daniel Glückmann and CPN would like to thank all the photographers who submitted their images to the ‘Darkness' category of Editor's Choice 3 in August.
