Barbara Stauss to review Editor’s Choice images

Mare magazine’s picture director, Barbara Stauss, will be the next guest editor for CPN’s unique opportunity for photographers - Editor’s Choice - that offers you the chance to have your photographs seen and edited by some of the top photo editors in the world.

Barbara Stauss was born in Switzerland and, to further her education, she moved to Berlin to study Russian in 1988. In 1991 she entered the Berliner Photography school, Lette Verein, concentrating on the technical aspects of the profession. She worked for some years as a photographer before becoming picture editor with a Berlin photo agency.

In 1996 Stauss was a co-founder of Mare magazine (named after its sea-theme) that’s dedicated to classic photo reportage and picture essays. She has been picture director of the magazine for more than a decade and is responsible for its photographic concepts. She also teaches at photo editing seminars, and was a master for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Joop Swart Masterclasses, run by World Press Photo.

For Editor’s Choice you can upload your Canon photographs for viewing by the world’s top photo editors. If they make the final shortlist selection, after the rigorous editing process, your photos will be showcased on the CPN website. Every two months a new guest photo editor is named and a new selection of photographs can be submitted. CPN recommends that you submit a carefully edited portfolio of your best work that showcases your photographic talents and strengths.

Those select few whose work is chosen via Editor’s Choice to feature on the CPN site will then have a global showcase for their work to be seen by a wide audience, including all of the major figures in the photographic industry. You will be able to submit your photos for review by Barbara Stauss from 1 July 2009 onwards.
