Monica Allende to guest edit Editor’s Choice
The picture editor of The Sunday Times Magazine, Monica Allende, is the new guest editor for CPN’s regular feature - Editor’s Choice – that offers Canon photographers the unique opportunity to have their photographs reviewed and edited by some of the world’s best photo editors.
After graduating from the University of London with a degree in political science Monica Allende worked as a picture editor for DK, APA and Pearson publishers. She then made the move into the world of newspapers by working for The Independent and then switched to The Sunday Times. She joined the Sunday Times Magazine in 2002 and, as picture editor, is responsible for all aspects of photography that are contained within the famous weekly publication.
During her tenure The Sunday Times Magazine has received several awards for its photography including the Picture Editor’s Award for Best Magazine in 2006; the Best Feature in Photojournalism from Amnesty International; and Best Photography at the Design Awards. In the past year Monica Allende has been responsible for developing and editing a new section of the magazine called ‘Spectrum ‘that is devoted to showing the most powerful photojournalism from around the world.
CPN’s Editor’s Choice gives you the chance to upload your Canon photographs for viewing by the world’s top photo editors. If they make the final shortlist selection after the rigorous editing process your photos will be showcased on the CPN website. Every two months a new guest photo editor is named and you can submit a new selection of photographs.
Those select few whose work is chosen via Editor’s Choice to feature on the CPN site will then have a global showcase for their work to be seen by a wide audience including all the major figures in the photographic industry. You will be able to submit images for review by Monica Allende from 1 November 2009 onwards.
