Canon offers free fix for EOS 5D mirrors
Canon has learned that in rare occurrences the main mirror of some EOS 5D digital SLR cameras may fall off, due to deterioration in the strength of adhesion, and is now offering a free fix to the problem via Canon Service Centres.
A Canon spokesperson told CPN: “We offer our most sincere apologies to customers using this product who have been inconvenienced by this issue. Going forward, we will spare no effort in our quality management to make sure our customers can use our products with confidence.”
The phenomenon on the EOS 5D happens when the main mirror of the camera falls off and images cannot be checked on the viewfinder. The free mirror fix will be offered regardless of the warranty status.
Canon will repair and reinforce the mirror portion of any of the affected EOS 5D cameras free of charge. If you think you own one of the affected cameras please contact your nearest Canon Service Centre or click through here.
