November 2008

Canon has announced the imminent arrival of its EOS Discovery show in Paris from 13 to 17 November, in Milan from 27 to 30 November, at Amersfoort (the Netherlands) from 29 to 30 November and in Madrid from 12 to 14 December.

EOS Discovery offers a series of free workshops that are designed to help enthusiast and semi-pro photographers take their DSLR photography to the next level, while providing a more detailed insight into Canon’s EOS system, the most popular photographic system in the world.

Following on from a string of successful shows in 2007, this year’s EOS Discovery programme will feature workshops taken by top professional photographers on subjects such as portrait, macro and action photography. For example, at the Amersfoort event in the Netherlands Canon Ambassador Frits van Eldik will be tutoring on action photography to explain about using movement in photographs and working with different shutter speeds to show motion or freeze action.

Photographers are encouraged to bring their own DSLR to investigate the full Canon EOS range of camera bodies and help them to understand what lenses will fit their photography needs. An EOS ‘Touch & Try’ area at the venues will feature all the latest models, including the new 21.1 Megapixel EOS 5D Mark II – which combines full frame shooting with Full 1080 HD video capture – and the 15.1 Megapixel, 6.3 fps EOS 50D.

At the Netherlands event EOS Discovery event partners Apple and Adobe will also hold sessions. Apple will present on ‘Aperture for Beginners’ and ‘Aperture Integration and Multimedia Storytelling’, whilst Adobe will hold workshops on tips for the new versions of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 and Photoshop CS4.

The Paris EOS Discovery shows will be during the Salon de la Photo event at ParisExpo, Porte de Versailles; the Milan shows will be during the Fotografica 08 event at the Centro Forma, Piazza Tito Lucrezia; the Amersfoort shows at Rijtuigenloods; and the Madrid show at the Hotel Meliá Castilla.
