Canon has revealed its new flagship high-performance XEED WUX4000 projector - the first ever Canon XEED projector to feature lens options and motorised lens shift. Combining exceptional image quality and high performance with easy maintenance, the WUX4000 is the ideal solution for corporate environments, higher education establishments and design applications, positioning Canon right at the cutting edge of the professional AV market.
XEED image quality
The XEED WUX4000 takes advantage of Canon's well-established LCOS panel technology to deliver faithful colours and lattice-free images at native WUXGA resolution (1920x1200 pixels). The combination of seamless LCOS images and very high resolution means that every image detail is preserved, with clear display of small text and fine lines. As an LCOS projector, the WUX4000 is capable of exceptionally smooth colour and greyscale gradation - placing it ahead of many single-chip DLP models.
With a brightness of 4000 lumens and a 1000:1 contrast ratio, the Canon WUX4000 excels with photographic images, where its vivid colours clearly outperform many other WUXGA installation projectors. The WUX4000's native WUXGA resolution has a 16:10 screen aspect ratio that makes it ideal for use with today's generation of PC and Macintosh notebook computers. Hence the WUX4000 is perfect for installation in any boardroom, studio, laboratory or office where crisp, clean, professional presentations are required.
Installation environments and lens options
The WUX4000 is Canon's most flexible projector to date and has been designed to meet the needs of the widest possible range of installation environments. The WUX4000 is complemented by a range of three optional lenses: a standard zoom lens (RS-IL01ST), a long zoom lens (RS-IL02LZ) and a fixed focus wideangle lens (RS-IL03WF) - the wideangle lens is particularly suited to rear projection applications. The usual quality of Canon optical products is assured, with the highest levels of brightness and image geometry being maintained, whichever lens is fitted.
Crucially for installers, the WUX4000's motorised horizontal and vertical lens shift allows the projected image to be repositioned without the reduction in image quality caused by the use of keystone correction. Installers can choose a location for the WUX4000 - without having to precisely align the lens axis with the centre of the screen. This is exceptionally useful where obstructions such as light fittings or air conditioning outlets might otherwise hamper installation of the projector. The projector can also be installed vertically, enabling direct projection onto a floor or ceiling.
Easy maintenance & low running costs
The WUX4000 is optimised for easy maintenance, with a modular design that allows the lamp and air filter to be replaced with the unit in situ. This dramatically reduces labour times, since the projector no longer needs to be uninstalled first. In addition, it is possible to replace certain optical filters without extensive dismantling; simplifying what would otherwise be a complex workshop procedure.
Optimising the internal design and routing separate air streams to the lamp and LCOS panels have improved the cooling efficiency of the WUX4000. Quiet Mode, which lowers operating noise to just 36dBA, also extends the lifespan of the lamp from 3,000 hours up to a maximum of 4,000 hours.
Easy to integrate and connect
The WUX4000 supports PJLink, a standard protocol designed to simplify the installation of projectors and control systems from different manufacturers. This makes it easy to integrate Canon's WUX4000 into mixed environments, or to upgrade from existing systems that are already in place.
The WUX4000 can also be connected directly to a network for control and monitoring. It is supplied with a remote handset that can be programmed to operate on any of four different infrared channels and enables independent control of multiple WUX4000 projectors in the same room. The handset can also be set to operate on all four IR channels simultaneously.
Julian Rutland, Visual Communication Products and Solutions Director, Canon Europe said: "The WUX4000 is a significant new product for professional photographers delivering training or exhibiting their work to large audiences. The WUX4000 delivers bright, true-to-life photographic images; it’s able to resolve the finest details and subtle colour shades; and offers sRGB matching that is second to none."
