Getty Images has expanded its online music licensing resources for multimedia producers and film-makers with the introduction of Premium Playlist - a new stream of mainstream licensing content in addition to the company’s existing Pump Audio service.
Unlike the slightly less mainstream independent music offered by Pump Audio - a company purchased by Getty Images in June 2007 for $49 million - the new Premium Playlist service has been organised with music tracks recorded by more major recording artists, including the Barenaked Ladies and Norah Jones, and also offers some music from TV shows and movies.
The driving force behind the project is Getty Images’ vice president of multimedia product, Craig Peters, who explained: “We have seen significant growth and success in our Getty Images music product and our Pump Audio Collection. Representing music content through Premium Playlist is the next step and a natural fit for our business model.”
Premium Playlist is accessible via the main Getty Images website and has over 1,000 songs available for non-exclusive license made possible by deals with leading record labels, music publishers, management companies and other content owners including Warner/Chappell, Koch Records, Cherry Lane, and Kobalt Music Group. The service also operates as a clearing house for licensing rights.
Songs have differing licensing fees depending on the proposed use of the music – for example, for TV advertising, web/mobile usage, film trailers, or films for theatre release – and if you’re seeking to license music you can search on the Getty Images website by label, artist, musical genre, country of origin, or your music budget. Vince Bannon, vice president of entertainment partnerships & development at Getty Images, commented: “From rights and clearance, to music supervision, to premium content or Pump Audio’s independent library, Getty Images makes it easier for customers to secure the high-quality, versatile music they need all in one place.”
Warner/Chappell Music’s executive vice president, Ann Sweeney, explained: “We are continuously seeking new ways to market our rich catalogue of music to a broader, more diverse set of music users. Getty Images’ high quality network and easy-to-use service is a great complement to Warner/Chappell’s high calibre roster of artists, songwriters and producers in reaching the synch and licensing communities.”
The Premium Playlist service from Getty Images will run alongside the existing Pump Audio music licensing service, which has a library of over 100,000 music titles to choose from. To find out more about Premium Playlist just click here.
