Monica Allende, picture editor of The Sunday Times Magazine, has picked her shortlist of images from the photographs submitted to the fifth edition of Editor's Choice - an entry that highlighted the work of talented photojournalists from the USA, Australia, Italy, Portugal, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and many other countries.
In a specially produced CPN audio-visual presentation Monica Allende describes how she approaches editing images on a daily basis and reveals the reasons behind her favourite image choices. Allende explained: "I don't really look out for single images; I tend to look for stories - that's the tradition; that is my training and I always look for photo features. Very rarely am I looking at just one image and saying 'this is the photographer I want to use', based on one picture.”
She revealed to CPN: "I have to say that I found the process quite liberating and quite free from what I normally do when I have to justify images, normally to myself but also to my editor, to see if they fit into the style of the magazine."
Monica Allende and CPN would like to thank all of those Canon photographers who submitted their images to this edition of Editor's Choice.
* Please note that CPN is currently working on a special review of all the images submitted to Editor's Choice so far and details of the next 'guest editor' for Editor's Choice will be revealed on the CPN website in the near future.
