Canon PIXMA printer duo offers gallery quality
Canon has announced two powerful new printing tools - the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II and PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II printers - for photographers to create gallery-quality images up to A3+ size or 14” wide for exhibition and sale.
PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II
For exceptional colour accuracy and gamut, the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II uses a 10-colour pigment-based single ink system as standard, including matte black and photo black, allowing photographers to print on gloss and matte media without the need for swapping ink tanks.
Finding the correct print media is crucial in turning an image into a saleable product. To maximise potential profit, the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II prints to a comprehensive range of Canon and non-Canon media. Stunning, high-quality prints can be printed onto Canon high gloss media without bronzing or gloss differential; other supported Canon media includes Semi-gloss, Matte Photo Paper and Fine Art media.
The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II supports ICC profiles for many specialist media. These include Baryta types, canvas, and numerous Fine Art media from leading brands such as Canson, Hahnemühle, Innova, Moab, Somerset, Crane, PCM and Pictorico. For additional flexibility you can create custom ICC profiles, using Canon’s Colour Management Tool Pro 2 software with selected X-Rite colour spectrophotometers.
The addition of a 16 bits per channel print capability – with 276 trillion possible colours – offers outstandingly smooth tonal gradations in both colour and monochrome prints. Dedicated monochrome inks minimise problems, such as colour casting, and allow photographers to reproduce a smoother range of neutral and grayscale tones.

New for the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is an Ambient Light Correction feature using Canon Kyuanos technology. Users can select the type of lighting under which a print will be displayed; the colours in the final print are then automatically adjusted to ensure that the displayed result looks just the way the photographer intended.
Prints that last
Print longevity is the key to selling or showing your images with confidence. The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II uses Canon LUCIA pigment inks, which are specially designed to deliver long-lasting prints that retain their vibrancy for generations.
Designed for working photographers
Professional photographers can integrate the PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II directly into their workflow by using the included Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in, which allows printing directly from Adobe Photoshop and the supplied Adobe Photoshop Elements software. Canon Easy-Photo Print Pro is compatible with Adobe Photoshop (CS, CS2, CS3, CS4), Canon Digital Photo Professional 2.1 or later, and the bundled Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0. Canon EOS users can use the plug-in to print RAW files directly from Canon Digital Photo Professional software.
The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is made to accommodate the rigours of a professional photographer’s workload. Its sturdy design – built around a rigid 1.6mm thick steel chassis – endures heavy usage to deliver reliable, consistent performance.
“The PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II is for photographers who are serious about exhibiting and selling their images,” said Rainer Fuehres, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Even on high gloss media, results remain consistently stunning.”

PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II
Replacing the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 in the range, the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II refines the design of its predecessor to offer faster, higher-quality monochrome printing, a wider range of supported media, and a new Ambient Light Correction feature.
Print for gallery or portfolio
Taking full advantage of Canon’s rich imaging heritage, the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II creates vibrant and professional-quality prints. Default printing speeds in monochrome are now nearly three times faster (the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II produces an A3+ bordered print in 9mins 30sec on PR-201, versus 27min 14sec with the PIXMA Pro9000 on PR-101) than before, while accurate colour reproduction across a wide colour gamut is guaranteed by the 8-colour ChromaLife100 Single-Inks system. The addition of 16 bits per channel print capability, with 276 trillion different colours available, offers outstandingly smooth tonal gradations.
Tiny 2pl ink droplets are placed with precision, using Canon’s FINE print head technology. And because the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II uses a system of single, individually replaceable inks, wastage is minimised.
Media for every occasion
The PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II provides photographers with an extensive choice of print media options. Canon’s own range of media includes Gloss, Semi-gloss and Matte Photo Papers, plus Fine Art media. Users can also load the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II with a variety of specialist, third-party media – such as Baryta types, canvas, and numerous other Fine Art media from leading manufacturers including Canson, Hahnemühle, Innova, PCM Takeo and Pictorico. A flat paper path ensures that media up to 1.2mm thick remain pristine and crease-free.
Precision colour control
Included with the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II is Canon’s Easy-PhotoPrint Pro plug-in that’s compatible with Adobe Photoshop (CS, CS2, CS3, CS4), Canon Digital Photo Professional 2.1 or later, and the bundled Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro allows photographers to batch print different images from Photoshop or Digital Photo Professional, simplifying the procedure by giving access to all the required print settings on one screen. When used with Canon’s Digital Photo Professional software, the plug-in enables Canon EOS photographers to print directly from RAW files without having to convert images to any intermediate formats. Users of other DSLR cameras can use Adobe Photoshop Elements to enable RAW file conversion and printing.
New for the PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II is an Ambient Light Correction feature using Canon Kyuanos technology. Users can select the type of lighting under which a print will be displayed; the colours in the final print are then automatically adjusted to ensure that the displayed result looks just the way the photographer intended.
“Serious photography enthusiasts want their images to look good, wherever they’re used” said Rainer Fuehres, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging, Europe. “The PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II provides a complete one-box solution to that demand.”
