Canon announces new five-year sponsorship deal for Visa pour l’Image festival

Canon has renewed its principal sponsorship of the Visa pour l’Image international festival of photojournalism for a further five years, following 19 years of supporting the event. While Visa pour l’Image has always attracted strong support from a wide range of companies and organisations, this is the first time that such a major and long-term sponsorship arrangement has been signed.

The involvement with the festival, that's held annually in Perpignan, France, will give Canon the opportunity to foster its relationships with both professional photographers and photo agencies from all around the world.

‘We are delighted to be able to take our relationship with Visa pour l’Image to the next level and to strengthen our support of the photojournalism industry,” said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. “Visa pour l’Image pays tribute to the talent and courage of the best photographers in the business, and Canon is proud to reinforce this sentiment.”

Visa pour l’Image provides a forum for photojournalists from around the world to present their work, talk to peers and meet with potential clients – photo agencies and magazines. The festival this year is attended by about 260 agencies from more than 60 different countries; with around 3,000 professionals from the field of photojournalism attending. Some 30 exhibitions are on show this year, with in-depth reports and stories.

The festival is running until 14 September 2008, with professional week ending on 7 September. Every year, Canon has a large display area in the Palais des Congres, the key event venue at Visa pour l’Image. The space incorporates the pro imaging line-up, from input to output, supplying global solutions adapted to the world of professional photography.
