‘Excuse me. Could you have a look at this?’

One of the most frequented areas in the Canon space is the Canon Professional Services (CPS) desk. There is a constant stream of photographers dropping off cameras and lenses to be checked over and cleaned.

At events like Visa pour l’Image, Canon provides this service free of charge to accredited visitors. If you’re not an accredited visitor, then you need to be a CPS member to qualify for the service.

Jos and Leonardo are the two front men on the CPS counter at the show this year. Most visitors have a camera with them and this service can save them having to do their own sensor cleaning. Jos and Leonardo receive kit from the photographers, try to answer any questions they may have and give some advice on various aspects of using the equipment, such as how to use Custom Functions settings. The questions don’t just need to be equipment based. If you’re off to some exotic location they can also tell you where the nearest service centre might be.

“I’ve been to Perpignan before, but only on holiday,” said Jos. “Coming here to the festival and being surrounded by so many photographers is really special.”
