Jonathan Lowenstein, Jonathan Torgovnik and Leo Maguire have been given $20,000 each and editorial support by Getty Images for their projects.
Michele NcNally (New York Times), Elizabeth Bondi (The New Yorker), Paolo Pellegrin (Magnum Photos) and W. M. Hunt (Hasted-Hunt Gallery, New York) selected the winners from 124 applicants from 37 countries.
Lowenstein’s project, 'Shadow Lives USA' documented six different issues facing those trying to enter the US across from Mexico.
Torgovnik's project, 'Intended Consequences' seeks to follow 50 women who were raped during the Rwandan genocide 13 years ago, and have children as a result.
Leo Maguire's project, 'Lords of the Lane' will focus on the world of Gypsy bare-knuckle fighters in England.
