Entries invited for Web Documentary Award
The international TV news channel FRANCE 24 and international news radio station RFI are inviting entries to their inaugural ‘Web Documentary Award’ for documentaries that have been broadcast on the Internet using a combination of photographs, texts, sound, and videos and with an interactive dimension.
The ‘FRANCE 24-RFI Award’ will honour the web documentary that: “sets itself apart from the other entries in terms of choice of subject, originality and innovative use of new multimedia tools.” The winner will be announced during the Visa pour l’Image 2009 international festival of photojournalism, from 29 August to 13 September 2009 in Perpignan, France.
The jury for the award will be composed of international personalities from the world of news, documentaries, photography and new media. All entries must be submitted by 20 July 2009, and be in either French or English.
The competition organisers explained: “Candidates should in particular demonstrate innovation and contribute to the development of a modern approach to the news on the web. In creating this award FRANCE 24 and RFI aim to encourage new ways of exploiting the Internet and new media that promote original treatment of the news.”
FRANCE 24 and RFI are partners of the Visa pour l’Image international festival of photojournalism. Entry conditions can be downloaded from the FRANCE 24 and RFI websites.
