Television and video industry camera expert Alan Roberts has produced an independent test of Canon's XF305 and XF300 professional HD camcorders and CPN is now offering his findings here as a pdf download.
Alan Roberts (right) receives the 2009 TiCA award from the then President of The Guild of Television Cameramen, Tony Hibberd.
Alan Roberts is a widely respected authority in the video and production world and last year received the coveted Guild of Television Cameramen's Award (TiCA) in the UK. The award is given each year to someone who's not necessarily directly involved in programme making but has made a significant contribution to the art. Previous winners of the award have included Sir David Attenborough, the 'Big Cat Diaries' TV programme and the Tour de France camera crew.
The citation for Roberts' TiCA award included this: "He has not only contributed to the technology behind the camera, with a huge number of White Papers, but has directly helped untold numbers of television cameramen get the very best images out of modern digital and high definition cameras. His advice and recommended set-ups have become the de facto settings throughout the world."
To download a pdf of Alan Roberts' test of the Canon XF305 and XF300, which includes details of his recommended settings for the camcorders, simply click on the link in the 'Downloads' box on the right hand side of this page.
