Speedlite 600EX II-RT: intelligent flash with power and versatility
The Speedlite 600EX II-RT is engineered for fast frame-rate shooting, and performs in the most demanding situations. Used off-camera or on the hotshoe, its versatility allows you to take complete control over lighting.
Who is it for?
The perfect companion for the EOS-1D X Mark II, the Speedlite 600EX II-RT is ideal for professional photographers looking for high-quality, consistent lighting with rapid recycling and plenty of power to light up large spaces – even when bouncing flash. High-speed sync allows easy mixing of flash and daylight at any shutter speed and ensures that photographers will never miss a moment.

SHOOT FASTER AND FOR LONGER
The Speedlite 600EX II-RT delivers an uncompromising performance, making it an ideal companion for the EOS-1D X Mark II. Fire up to 50 percent more flashes continuously, compared with the Speedlite 600EX-RT, and add the CP-E4N battery pack for even longer bursts.
RELIABLE PERFORMANCE ON- AND OFF-CAMERA
An improved flash-control algorithm helps prevent overheating, and Quick Flash allows the Speedlite 600EX II-RT to fire even if a full charge hasn’t yet been achieved, so you won’t miss that unique moment. A zoom and bounce head ensures that flash coverage matches the lens in use, and allows light to be reflected from walls and ceilings for a more natural result. The Speedlite 600EX II-RT is weatherproofed to the same level as the EOS-1D X Mark II, so you can keep shooting even when conditions get tough.
A Bounce Adapter is included for softer lighting when shooting portraits and clip-on coloured filters help when balancing flash with ambient light.
CREATIVE OFF-CAMERA LIGHTING FROM ANY DIRECTION
Simulate light coming from any direction by positioning the Speedlite 600EX II-RT off-camera. Fire it from up to 30m away, using built-in radio or optical control and an optional wireless trigger, the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT. Multiple Speedlite 600EX II-RT can be used together (individually or in groups) and can be combined with other Canon flashes, like the Speedlite 430EX III-RT.
POWERFUL PERFORMANCE, WITH GUIDE NUMBER 60 (M, ISO100)
The Speedlite 600EX II-RT packs plenty of power, so you never be left frustrated. It’s ideal for lighting large spaces, and bouncing light from walls and ceilings for a softer, more natural result. The unit recycles silently in as little as 3.3s, and the optional CP-E4N battery pack shortens this time even further.
INTUITIVE CONTROLS AND AN INFORMATIVE DISPLAY
A customisable control dial allows quick adjustments when working under pressure, while a large, illuminated display shows relevant shooting information at a glance. The charge status of all wireless flashes in the group is shown on the display of the master Speedlite 600EX II-RT unit.
HEAT RESISTANT CONSTRUCTION
The Speedlite 600EX II-RT uses heat-resistant materials and a re-designed optical system to achieve greater reliability when shooting continuously. Compared with the Speedlite 600EX-RT, up to 50 percent more flashes can be shot in one continuous burst (twice as many flashes are possible when using the optional CP-E4N external power source).
ELECTRONIC FLASH COVERAGE SWITCHING
Both automatic and manual flash coverage settings are possible. During automatic switching, zooming is performed according to the size of the image sensor (Full, APS-H, APS-C). The Speedlite 600EX II-RT uses a stepping motor for quiet and high-precision zooming. With [C.Fn-21: Light distribution] in the flash Custom Functions, you can now select [0: Standard], [1: Guide number priority], or [2: Even coverage] to control the luminance of the subject. Guide number priority ensures the greatest distance but results in fall off of light at the edges which can be used for create effect when shooting portraits. Even coverage reduces the guide number but ensures equal luminance across the frame.
RADIO FREQUENCY WIRELESS TRIGGERING
The Speedlite 600EX II-RT can be positioned away from the camera and triggered remotely using radio waves using the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT or another Speedlite 600EX II-RT. This allows photographers to build mood and atmosphere into a scene by simulating light coming from different directions.
Radio frequency triggering is built in to the Speedlite 600EX II-RT, making it quick and simple to set up sophisticated off-camera flash. A dedicated wireless menu makes it easy to find all of the commands and adjustments you need. Radio triggering operates even when there is no direct line of sight between flash and camera, and the Speedlite 600EX II-RT can be fired from up to 30m away.
Up to 15 off-camera Speedlites can be used together for dramatic multi-flash photography – great when shooting interiors or for atmospheric portraits. The Speedlite 600EX II-RT can be used in conjunction with other wireless flashes, such as the Speedlite 430EX-III RT.
