EOS 50D
The EOS 50D presents the perfect combination of speed and quality with a 15.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 processor and ISO range to 12800. It is aimed at the enthusiast market but has many features that will appeal to professionals as well.
The 15.1megapixel resolution makes capturing high resolution images with fine detail easy, and the DIGIC 4 processor keeps things moving along quickly at the 6.3fps shooting speed.
With a high ISO rating of 12800, the EOS 50D is great for shooting in very low light levels allowing you to keep the shutter speed up and hand hold the camera even when it’s very dark.
Apart from processing the images quickly, the DIGIC 4 processor provides 14-bit image processing for smooth tonal gradations and natural looking colours. It also allows the EOS 50D to start-up almost instantly so you never miss a shot.
The LCD screen is a 920,000 dot VGA screen providing incredible clarity. Using it with the Live View Mode makes checking fine focus before taking the picture easy. The large viewing angle also makes Live View Mode even more use with awkwardly positioned cameras at strange angles.
The Live View Mode also features improvements, providing three autofocusing methods – Quick AF, Live AF and Face Detection AF. To ensure accurate autofocus in normal use, the wide-area AF features 9 cross-type sensors spread across the entire AF frame. This makes it faster to focus on off-centre subjects and ensures your images are always in focus no matter how you compose them.
Although it is a consumer level camera, it features a magnesium alloy body to keep it light and durable. It also features environmental sealing to help keep water and dust out. Should any dust make it into the sensor, the EOS integrated Cleaning System with the new fluorine coating on the low pass filter to repel dust will help keep images clean and dust free.
