Shoot on the move and still achieve smooth, steady-cam like footage using 5-axis Advanced Dynamic IS with Auto Level.

Connect your camera to a compatible smart device with just one tap using Dynamic NFC for quick and easy sharing of photos and movies over WiFi via the Canon Camera Connect app. Shoot remotely from your smart device with full creative control and automatically back up new images to cloud services like irista.

The external Lens Control Ring on the PowerShot G7 X Mark II encourages users to utilise camera functions and tailor to individual needs. A control ring also encourages users to hold the camera and provide further support, thus further increasing the chance of good images.

The control ring has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, allowing the user to switch between smooth or step action at a flick of a switch. Picture Styles and 14-bit RAW shooting allow seamless integration with EOS workflow, while in-camera RAW processing ensures best possible quality for sharing away from home.

Other frequently used functions can be added to a custom menu for quick access, too, while a large knurled grip around the ring allows excellent handling while on the move or in challenging situations.

Capture beautiful background blur, with great control over depth of field thanks to the large 9-bladed aperture, while DIGIC 7 delivers superfast response times and sustained 8 fps burst, even in full resolution RAW, for capturing spontaneous moments. Effortlessly create stunning, sharable clips with in-camera Time-Lapse movie.

An exciting new addition to the PowerShot G7 X Mark II is DIGIC 7, Canon’s most powerful imaging processor to date. Offering significant improvements in the processing capabilities of both stills and movies as well as more responsive operation, the processor facilitates enhanced subject tracking and detection and enables an improved 4-stop image stabilisation.

With dramatic improvements in subject tracking performance, the processor also allows quicker identification of faces – plus improved tracking of them – as well as other moving subjects such as animals. Improved detection also helps achieve great shots in situations of low saturation or where subject and background share a similar colour.

Users can shoot images with greater clarity at high ISO thanks to the substantially improved processing power of DIGIC 7. This allows the camera to run noise reduction algorithms with as much as 14x more information compared to DIGIC 6, achieving up to one stop improvement in clarity, especially shooting at high ISO. High quality JPEG images at high ISO are ideal for night scenes and poorly-lit indoor shooting without flash, where increasing shutter speed helps to minimise subject movement.

The new DIGIC 7 processor enables a range of EOS-like in camera corrections including Auto Lighting Optimizer and Diffraction Correction. Auto Lighting Optimizer gives improved image quality in high contrast scenes such as shooting backlit portraits. It identifies dark areas and provides natural correction while improving contrast and maintaining high image quality. Diffraction Correction reduces background blurring when using small apertures for improved image quality when shooting landscapes.

The new PowerShot G7 X Mark II processor also enables exceptionally fast start-up time and AF speeds as well as a reduced interval between shots, which allows users to react immediately to chance photo opportunities. Continuous shooting speed is also improved with a remarkable 8 fps sustained burst – even in RAW – so all the action can be caught at the highest possible quality.

The processing power of DIGIC 7 enables optical image stabilisation with Dual Sensing IS technology, so you can achieve an extra stop of camera shake compensation and shoot in even more tricky situations. DIGIC 7 monitors data in parallel, from both the gyro sensor in the optical Image Stabilizer and the image projected onto the image sensor, to provide high precision corrections of up to 4 stops. It counteracts not only camera shake but also the slow but significant shaking from body movement for easy handheld shooting in lowlight.

Users can capture creative, fun and sharable movies with Timelapse Movie Mode, which allows them to shoot at time intervals corresponding to three typical scenes. A time interval of 1-4 secs is ideal for shooting moving subjects, such as people walking; 5-10 secs captures slow changing subjects, such as clouds moving; while 11-30 secs is suitable for recording slowly changing landscapes. The shooting interval and number of shots taken can be changed for each scene in units of 1 second and 30 shots respectively.

Users can experience seamless integration with EOS workflow thanks to Picture Styles and 14-bit RAW shooting. Picture Styles are well-established presets on the EOS series that make it possible to create images that match the subject and photographic objectives as well as create consistency between cameras. Eight types of presets are provided on the camera, which can be further customised, while additional Picture Style profiles can be downloaded or created and transferred to the camera via a computer. In-camera RAW conversion enables single or multiple 14-bit RAW files to be quickly converted to jpeg format, without using a computer, for easy sharing in the field or while travelling.

Auto Level works in conjunction with Dynamic IS to ensure steady and level movie footage straight from the camera by automatically correcting and maintaining horizontal levels. It allows users to capture scenes where it is difficult to keep the horizon level, such as when shooting from a high or low angle, where it can be difficult to keep the camera steady. Auto Level can also aid users when capturing indoor scenes or architecture where subjects can be more noticeably tilted as well as when shooting without looking at the screen.
