VB-M741LE:
an outdoor, IR bullet camera ideal for cold and hazardous areas

The Canon VB-M741LE is a fully featured, outdoor, IR bullet camera with a 1.3MP high-sensitivity CMOS sensor, enhanced low-light performance and added environmental protection. A Super-UD IR Corrected lens with an ultra-wide 113.4° horizontal angle-of-view allows you to ensure you keep every outdoor angle covered, day and night.

Key features

  • Outdoor, IR bullet camera with 1.3MP high-sensitivity CMOS sensor.
  • Bright f/1.2-1.8 IR Corrected 2.4x Super-UD zoom lens with ultra-wide 113.4° horizontal angle-of- view.
  • Fully outdoor-ready with extensive weatherproofing and environmental protection.
  • Reliable start-up at -30° and operation in extremely cold environments down to -50°C.
  • Easy and convenient installation with remote zoom and focus set-up and simple pigtail connection.

High quality images, day or night

Protect your site with high quality, detailed, images day and night thanks to a 1.3MP high sensitivity CMOS sensor and true Day and Night switching. Optimised H.264 bit rate and Area-specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR) technology improve bandwidth control and allow operators to freely define areas of the scene where the best quality imaging is needed.

See in zero light with built-in IR illumination & ultra-wide coverage

The wide aperture f/1.2-1.8 Super-UD lens, with 2.4x optical zoom, delivers bright clear images even in low-light environments, while the ultra-wide 113.4° horizontal angle-of-view is ideal for monitoring wider areas. The VB-M741LE also features built-in infrared LED illumination to provide up to 30 metres coverage in total darkness. The IR Corrected lens not only provides clean, sharp images, day or night, but also improves low-light performance. Minimum subject illumination is 0.02 lux (colour) to 0.001 lux (mono). Haze Compensation automatically adjusts image contrast to make environments with fog, haze or smog easier to see.

Easy installation with remote set-up and simple cable connections

The VB-M741LE features a simple pigtail cable connection and Pan/Tilt/Rotate/Zoom (PTRZ) support to help to reduce installation times and costs. Connections include Audio and Alarm inputs and operators can easily identify alarming situations thanks to a wide range of in-built intelligent detection functions, which can automatically activate recording. These include Intruder Detection, which identifies moving objects entering a specified area, and Scream Detection, which recognises abnormal human sounds like screams or yells.

Outdoor-ready with additional environmental protection

The VB-M741LE is fully outdoor-ready with extensive weatherproofing and environmental protection. Its robust construction and innovative design means that it is also compliant with NEMA250 Type4X and IEC 60950-1/22 standards, making it ideal for use in a wide range of harsh conditions; including coastal areas subject to salt damage or industrial processing sites with corrosive emissions.

Extreme low temperature start-up and operation

The VB-M741LE is ideal for use in extremely cold environments, thanks to its durable design and an in-built heater that enables reliable start up at -30° and operation in temperatures as low as -50°C. Its air-cooling abilities also enable it to operate equally efficiently in temperatures up to +55°C, such as in hot tropical and arid regions.

Super-UD lens

The Super Ultra Low-Dispersion lens provides maximum infrared support. It minimises inconsistent focus under both visible and infrared light sources - helping to maintain accurate focus and high resolution, even when switching between Day and Night modes. A multi-layer lens coating prevents ghosting and flare and includes an anti-reflective infrared layer on relevant surfaces to improve infrared sensitivity and Night Mode image quality.

Haze compensation

Haze Compensation adjusts image contrast to make environments with fog, haze or smog easier to see. Auto compensation can be set to Strong, Medium or Mild and the camera will automatically adapt to changes in the scene. Levels of compensation can also be set manually for optimal results across a range of 1 (Mild) to 7 (Strong); however once the haze clears, settings need to be manually re-adjusted to avoid excessive contrast.

Area-specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR)

Area-specific Data Size Reduction (ADSR) further improves bandwidth control. It allows you to define up to eight discreet areas of interest within the camera’s angle-of-view and effectively lowers the camera’s H.264 bit rate. The camera’s pre-configured quality settings are applied to the selected areas, where high quality imaging is most needed to effectively monitor and secure the area, and a higher level of compression (and lower picture quality) is applied to the less important surrounding areas.

Intruder Detection

Activating the Intruder Detection function instantly warns of intruders in areas that are designated out-of-bounds. Users can configure both the minimum moving object size and the period of time that the object must remain in the detection area to be considered an intruder.

Scream Detection

Scream Detection warns of particular type of sounds in a generally quiet environment, such as screams or yelling. Rather than recognising linguistic meaning, the camera calculates the likelihood that a sound is a scream or yell by comparing its characteristics to an acoustic model from a database of sounds, which includes screams, yelling, and background noises. An unusual sound is determined to have occurred if it differs from the monitoring environment by 15–200dB.
