The Canon XH G1 and XH A1 are compact camcorders designed for professional users looking for high performance, portability, reliability and flexibility.
The XH G1 also has a set of professional connectors for studio work.
Both HDV camcorders have a 20x optical zoom lens and Canon’s super-fast Instant AF system. The camcorders are also each equipped with three 1/3-inch 1.67 megapixel CCDs which record HD 1080i video onto MiniDV tape – the same system used by the XL H1 camcorder. High quality optics are provided by Canon’s L-series lens which has Fluorite lens elements and Ultra-low Dispersion glass for greater clarity. A Super Range Optical Image Stabilizer helps keep images rock-steady. The XH series camcorders include Canon’s DIGIC DV II processor, which is specially designed for HDV data streams and produces low-noise images with vivid colour.
Both models are ergonomically designed for easy handling, with separate rings for focus, zoom and exposure, making three-finger operation possible. Also included are a rotating 2.8-inch widescreen LCD viewfinder and a 0.57-inch EVF.
A wide range of image adjustments are available, including gain and colour matrix settings, colour correction and CINE Gamma settings. The XH series of camcorders offer full manual control, with both functionality and operability fully customisable – this flexibility extends to a customisable display. All customised settings can be stored on an SD card and easily transferred to other XH camcorders. This way, all cameras on a multi-shoot can be perfectly matched.
The XH series camcorder kit
XH camcorders offer a 25 full frames shooting mode to produce video footage with the look and feel of film. Two-channel XLR audio inputs are provided and footage can be easily transferred to a PC for editing using a Firewire connector.
In addition to this, the XH G1 also includes Canon’s ‘professional jackpack’ a suite of industry-standard connections designed for the professional studio. These include an HD-Serial Digital Interface output for transporting uncompressed video at full 1920 x 1080 resolution with 4:2:2 chroma subsampling, plus time code and embedded audio.
The XH series offers it all - portability, flexibility, affordability, not to mention professional HD performance.
