Since it was launched nearly 20 years ago, Canon Professional Services (CPS) has been a valuable source of information, inspiration and support for people who rely on Canon equipment for their livelihood. That support is now being taken to a new level, with a range of fixed price Pro Services, available exclusively to CPS members.


Introducing CPS Member Pro Services

These special services, which are detailed below, have been designed to help you keep the tools of your trade in perfect working order, in the hands of experts who really know the equipment and how to look after it.

At this stage CPS Member Pro Services are being offered primarily to CPS members in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Sweden. However, any member with access to the Canon Regional Competence Centre (RCC) in these countries can take advantage of them.

All Canon cameras come with our standard EWS warranty. But if you’re a CPS member, you can now enjoy that peace of mind for a further two years.

If you need to make a claim under your Extended Warranty, it will cover:

  • All parts and labour.
  • Checking and repair of the equipment.
  • Configuration and updating of firmware during the repair process.
  • Full testing and set-up on factory-designed jigs.
  • Re-calibration to factory specification.
  • Free return to your registered address.

If you’d like to protect your equipment for longer, Extended Warranty must be taken out within the primary warranty period. A copy of the original proof of purchase will be required for validation.

You should also be aware that, while Extended Warranty covers manufacturing faults, it does not cover accidental damage, water damage, or any other damage that could be caused by misuse.

Sensor Clean & Check

The sensor is the heart of a digital camera and the key determining factor in image quality. So it’s essential to make sure it’s working perfectly – especially on DSLRs, where the sensor can attract dust particles when lenses are changed.

Sensors are very sensitive, and cleaning them safely and effectively requires considerable experience and expertise. But keeping your sensor in pristine condition can save you hours of touching up images, to remove the spots (or even blotches) that are caused by dust.

This new service ensures that the job is done to the highest professional standards, by Canon trained and certified professionals, for an affordable single payment:

The Sensor Clean & Check service includes:

  • Examination of sensor and mirror assembly prior to cleaning, to check for any scratches or damage.
  • Cleaning in accordance with strict manufacturer guidelines.
  • Checking by software, after cleaning, to ensure quality tests are passed.

If the initial examination shows damage that requires a replacement sensor, this will be fitted free of charge where the camera is under warranty and the damage is not due to misuse. Otherwise, an estimate for a replacement will be given.

Please note that, because of the nature of dust on DSLR sensors, there is no warranty on this service. Customers are advised to ensure that the body cap is fitted, when the camera is sent for cleaning, and to check image quality as soon as it is returned, so that any issues can be promptly addressed.

Pro Service & Pro Service AF

You want your equipment to be in the optimum condition, to give you the best possible image quality. But keeping it that way takes work – work best carried out by trained specialists who literally know the equipment inside out.

Our new Pro Service offers a comprehensive set-up and checking process, with full function checks and image analysis, which makes sure your cameras and lenses are maintained within the manufacturer’s specifications. Preventative failure and performance/tolerance tests are also carried out, to ensure image quality and avoid future problems.

The Pro Service has two levels: Pro Service & Pro Service AF. Pro Service is a body only service whilst Pro Service AF offers additional lens and AF checks (see below for exact details).

As you’d expect, everything is done at Canon’s RCC UK, by fully trained and certified imaging experts.

The Pro Service AF includes:

  • All of the above (Pro Service), plus...
  • AF accuracy check and adjustment with either customer’s lens or Canon reference lens.
  • Test for fixed lenses or at telephoto and wide end for zoom lenses, checking for optimum balanced performance and minimum chromatic aberration.
  • Full lens visual check to ensure no physical damage to the lens.
  • Full lens clean externally including front and rear elements.
  • Minor repairs/lubrication/adjustments to the lens, as necessary.
  • Full, lens specific, function checks to ensure all relevant modes of operation perform to specification, giving particular attention to any small customer reported fault information.
  • 10% discount on all parts and labour if a fault is found during service.
  • Additional lenses can be serviced at £48.00 (ex-VAT) each with a maximum of 1 body + 2 lenses per customer per service. A full list of the lenses eligible for Pro Service AF is available here. For any bodies or lenses not listed, ask the RCC UK to check availability and pricing.

Express Repair

When a tool, which your work relies on, needs to be repaired, you want it back in action with a minimum of fuss and delay. That’s why we’ve introduced the Express Repair service for CPS members who have EOS-1D series or EOS 5D series DSLRs.

The service guarantees that the repair will be completed within 48 hours*. Or, if more time is needed, a loan camera will be provided free of charge until the repair is done.

The Express Repair service includes:

  • Priority 48 hour turnaround.
  • Full product diagnostics.
  • Firmware updates, recalibration and lubrication.
  • Sensor clean (DSLR body only).
  • External body clean.
  • Advice on any other faults or potential problems.
  • Free loan of replacement equipment (including delivery costs), if the repair can’t be completed within 48 hours**. This includes transportation costs for the loan equipment***.
  • Free return to your registered address***.

Please note: the Express Repair service does not include parts and labour charges – any required repairs will be charged separately.

* 48 hours = from time of estimate acceptance by the customer to the time of product repair completion, ready for collection or return delivery.

Target Turnaround Times shall apply only to a maximum of 3 products being serviced at any given time for each individual member.

Target Turnaround Times are guaranteed from time of estimate acceptance by the customer to the time of product repair completion, ready for collection or return delivery.

Target Turnaround Times are based on working days (Monday to Friday, not including UK public holidays) and will be deemed to start from the time of estimate acceptance by the customer and ends on the day the product is ready to leave the repair facility. It does not include time spent in shipment nor any time spent awaiting any customer information necessary to complete the repair, such as missing documentation or acceptance of estimated cost of repair for out of warranty repairs for example.

** Equipment may not be the exact model or specification of the product brought in for repair - loan model specification dependent upon availability.

Where applicable and subject to availability, a loan of back-up equipment will be offered in the event that target turnaround time cannot be met and will be offered strictly subject to Canon's standard terms of loan which you will be deemed to have accepted if you accept or request a loan through your CPS membership.

No additional charge will be added for use of the loan equipment for the duration of the repair.

***For out-of-warranty repairs, you are responsible for paying all applicable costs associated with servicing of the equipment including (but not limited to) delivery costs and any applicable taxes, fees and levies as may be required in the country where the equipment is submitted for repair.
