Editor’s Choice Contest: The Winners

It is with great pleasure that we announce Yannis Kolesidis as the overall winner in the Editor’s Choice Contest. A big congratulations to Yannis, for an exceptionally timed image taken under challenging conditions. Covering the ongoing refugee crisis in his native Greece, he captured an image that demonstrated technical excellence as well as a strong narrative – the hallmark of a great photograph. You can learn more about the story of Yannis' exceptional image in our special interview with him here while below, you can find out more stories behind all the other winning images as well as take a unique look behind the scenes at the judging process to learn what impressed our esteemed editors the most.

Yannis Kolesidis took his winning image (above) near Idomeni, in Northern Greece, on March 10, 2016. Refugees and migrants struggle during food distribution at a refugee camp, at the border between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). Taken on a Canon EOS 5D Mark III with an EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens.
