Orcas are the largest animals in the dolphin family and are seen as extremely smart. I have wanted to see them hunt for many years and the best place to do so – where they even take sea lions up on shore – is Argentina.

I knew it would be hard to see but after some days on the beach I did have the great luck to see one hunt in front of me.
It was a fascinating thing to experience. They are big but so quick.

Orcas live in a matrilineal family group and have very strong family bonds. The lifespan of a female is about 50 years but oldest documented orca is 105 years of age. Males get between six to eight metres long and weigh about six tons. The largest ever orca male was 9.8 metres long and weighed ten tons. When the calves are born, they are 180 kilograms and 2.4 metres long.

I also had the great honour to see another animal I really do love: the armadillo. And when waiting on the orcas I got the chance to see it up close. Even he was a big fan of Canon ;-)

There are so many more thing to explore down here!
