EOS 5D Mark III: AF Adjustment settings for lenses

Like the EOS-1D X, the AF Adjustment settings for lenses in the EOS 5D Mark III are more comprehensive than those in previous EOS DSLRs. For example, with previous EOS cameras if you adjusted an EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM zoom lens, every EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens you attached to the camera would be micro-adjusted by the same amount. Now you can make adjustments for each individual lens you use. If the serial number of one of your lenses isn’t detected you can register its serial number within the ‘Review/edit lens information’ option of the camera menu. AF Adjustment with zoom lenses has also been improved. In the past it was only possible to register one microadjustment setting for each lens but, with the EOS 5D Mark III, you can make adjustments for both the wideangle and telephoto settings of a zoom lens. This helps to ensure that whatever focal length you use with a zoom lens, the images are accurately focused.
