Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Berlinale Talents event, which takes place alongside the Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany, from 7-12 February 2015.

Emerging directors, screenwriters, producers, distributors, world sales agents, actors, cinematographers, editors, production designers, sound designers, film music composers and film critics alike are all encouraged to apply for one of 300 places available in this highly successful creative summit and networking platform, which in 2015 celebrates its 13th year.

Held in the venues of Berlin’s HAU (Hebbel am Ufer) theatres, successful applicants will have a unique chance to work closely with around 100 renowned experts and mentors.

What does Berlinale Talents offer?

Apart from a programme of masterclasses and panel discussions, Berlinale Talents will offer several ‘Project Labs’, Studios and Workshops. These include:

  • Talent Project Market: Look out for savvy co-producers
    Designed for 10 producers/directors with a fully developed and ready-to-be-presented feature film project for theatrical release and suitable for international co-production.

    Berlinale Talents offers a great opportunity for emerging film professionals to work closely with experts in developing and refining their craft.

  • Doc Station: Transforming reality into cinema
    Designed for 10 documentary filmmakers working on a feature-length film project in advanced development stage.

  • Script Station: Bringing life to pages
    Designed for 10 screenwriters/directors working on a feature-length fiction film script that is in the advanced development stage.

  • Short Film Station: Lessons in Shorts
    Designed for 10 directors or writer/directors working on a script for a short film that is in the advanced stage of development.

  • Camera Studio: The world seen through your eyes
    Designed for 20 cinematographers discussing and discovering the aesthetics and mechanics of camera work, with equipment provided by Canon Europe.

  • Editing Studio: Life after shooting
    Designed for 20 editors discussing and discovering creative issues in the editing process based on excerpts from their own work.

  • Sound Studio: Setting the tone
    Designed for 15 sound designers and score composers focussing on how sound is used in the filmmaking process, from designing a sound landscape to the intricacies of sound mixing and composing non-orchestral film scores.

  • Production Design Studio: The world is not enough
    Designed for up to eight production designers, who can join discussions on how to develop new worlds for storytelling through an immersive and collaborative creative practice of “Worldbuilding”.

  • Sales and Distribution Studio: Reaching new audiences
    Designed for 10 film distributors or world sales agents, who take part in a collaborative exploration, benefit from the experience of fellow colleagues, and from the input and case-studies shared by seasoned audience designers, filmmakers and producers.

  • Acting Studio: Ready to play!
    Designed for 15 actors, to improve acting skills varying from body techniques, dialogue reading and close-up camera acting, through to mentoring by experienced industry experts.

  • Talent Press: Rigour required
    Designed for eight film critics, who can watch and review films shown at the Berlin International Film Festival or attend and write about sessions at Berlinale Talents.
