April 2013

CPN is blogging live from the 2013 World Press Photo Awards Days – held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands - from 25 to 28 April 2013, with a special section dedicated to the event with all of the news, behind-the-scenes images and interviews with some of world’s top photographers.

The World Press Photo Awards Days see the award-winning photographers, multimedia category winners, the world’s top picture editors and all of the major photo agencies descend upon Amsterdam for three days of presentations and discussions of the winning work in the 2013 World Press Photo Contest.

CPN is reporting live every day with regularly updated blogs on all of the activities, events, presentations and speeches. This year’s major presentation – the Sem Presser lecture – is being delivered by Canadian photographer Larry Towell (Magnum Photos), who won the World Press Photo of the Year in 1994.

The Awards Days culminate in the World Press Photo Awards ceremony and the presentation of the World Press Photo of the Year award to Swedish photographer Paul Hansen (from Dagens Nyheter newspaper) and CPN will be there to bring you all of the images and action from the glittering finale to the three-day event.

CPN has also published a series of interviews with some with winning photographers in the 2013 World Press Photo Contest, who reveal the stories behind their pictures, as well as with this year's jury chair, Santiago Lyon (Vice President and Director of Photography at The Associated Press).
