On your marks… get set for CPN’s IAAF Blogs

CPN has put together a top blogging team – featuring some of the world’s best sports photographers – who will be bringing you the stories behind their pictures from the upcoming International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Moscow, Russia, from 10-18 August 2013.

In a special Sports Blogs section CPN’s team of award-winning sports photographers will be blogging from 9 August onwards and throughout the IAAF World Championships with the latest images, action and stories from Moscow. The CPN sports blogging team is:

  • Giancarlo Colombo

    Freelance Italian photographer Giancarlo has been shooting sports for over 25 years and has covered five football World Cup Finals, plus major world championships in athletics, cycling, skiing and swimming. He is the official photographer for most of the world’s most important marathon races and has also shot campaigns for Adidas and Nike.

  • Adrian Dennis (Agence France-Presse)

    A photographer for nearly 25 years Adrian began working for newspapers in the USA and then The Independent and Independent on Sunday in the UK from 1996 to 2000. He has been with AFP since 2000 and he recently won three top awards, including Photograph of the Year, in the 2013 The Press Photographers’ Year competition.

  • Julian Finney (Getty images)

    His career in sports photography began in 2004 and since then Julian has covered events such as the Rugby World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, all four Tennis Grand Slams, World Championship Athletics, international cricket and F1. His award-winning work has appeared in many publications around the world including Sports Illustrated, L’Equipe and Stern.

  • Robert Ghement (European Pressphoto Agency)

    Romanian Robert Ghement was inspired to take up photojournalism during the uprising against Nicolae Ceausescu. By 1994 he was shooting for a sports magazine, national daily newspapers and The Associated Press. Robert joined EPA in 1999 and has covered news, conflicts in the Middle East and the Balkans, as well as many major sports events.

  • Andrey Golovanov & Sergey Kivrin

    This Russian duo has worked together for over 25 years and has won numerous photographic awards around the world. The two photographers also contributed images to Russia’s bid book, including all the ads in the run-up to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup. They became Canon Explorers in June 2103.

  • Ian MacNicol (INPHO)

    Ian MacNicol is an award-winning photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland, who won Sports Photographer of the Year in the 2012 Scottish Press Awards. His assignments have spanned news, features, documentary and features, but he specialises in sports and has recently worked with prestigious clients such as Swimming Australia and Swimming Canada.

  • Kerim Okten (European Pressphoto Agency)

    Kerim Okten was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and holds a degree in documentary photojournalism. He first worked for a Turkish national newspaper and magazines. Kerim joined EPA in 1998 and has covered stories in Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan among others. He has also photographed many major international sporting events.

  • Laci Perényi (SportPhoto by Laci Perényi)

    Originally from Slovakia, now based in Germany, Laci Perényi has been shooting sport since 1974. He has an archive of almost half a million images and his pictures have been published in Der Spiegel, The New York Times Magazine, Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated and many others. He became a Canon Explorer in June 2013.

  • Cameron Spencer (Getty Images)

    Originally from Australia, and based in Sydney, Getty Images’ staff photographer Cameron Spencer covered his first-ever football World Cup Finals in 2010 and has shot three Olympic Games and three Rugby World Cups. In 2011 Cameron was named Sports Photojournalist of the Year in the USA’s Best of Photojournalism Awards.

  • Jamie Squire (Getty Images)

    Based in Kansas City, USA, Jamie is an editorial and commercial photographer who specialises in sport. He has covered many top international events including Superbowls, NBA Finals, Golf and Tennis Majors and the football World Cup Finals. He often shoots on assignment for clients such as The New York Times, Time and Sports Illustrated.

  • Ian Walton (Getty Images)

    Highly accomplished UK photographer Ian Walton specialises in sports photography and has worked for Getty Images since 1999. His images have featured in publications including Sports Illustrated, Inside Sport, Golf World and The Sunday Telegraph. Ian recently won the ‘Olympic Singles’ category in the 2013 The Press Photographers’ Year competition.
