Contest now closed for entries!

Editor’s Choice, CPN’s visual boot camp, is now closed for entries. If you think your photographic eye is good enough to create thought-provoking and technically excellent images, then our five judges will soon be deciding which ones are the best!

Our expert eyes this year are Jon Jones (our Chairman of the Jury), plus category editors Lauren Steel, Marc Aspland, Cheryl Newman and Barbara Stauss. Their opinions count, and having them review your work is an accolade in itself. As an added bonus the winning image and judges’ favourites will be displayed on the Canon Professional Network and shared on our Twitter page!

Let the public decide

Not only did our highly experienced professionals review submitted images, the Contest was also thrown open to you, the public, to have your say. The Public Vote is now closed and we would like to thank the many thousands of you who voted!

The Categories

  • Sports Editor Marc Aspland

“I expect a perfectly exposed, framed composition, but I always demand more than the obvious. Like all photographers, whenever I see a stunning photograph I will always think ‘I wish I’d have taken that.’”

  • Photojournalism Editor Lauren Steel

“Powerful photographs grab me at my core and connect me to the subject so I feel inspired and curious about the image, cultivating an all-encompassing and fulfilling sense of awareness.”

  • Portrait Editor Cheryl Newman

“I am drawn to images which provoke a reaction within me. A great photograph should be brave, visceral and inventive. I want to be moved, amused or angered by photographs that are honest and artful.”

  • Nature Editor Barbara Stauss

“I don’t really look for the perfect image to be honest – sometimes the perfect image is not so interesting. I rather like it when an image allows me to start my imagination going.”
